Singapore Restaurant Week – Violet Herb

Anyone who has known me for any amount of time, including one of the ladies monitoring an exam I wrote recently, knows that I have an absurd, borderline obsessive love of the colour purple. So you can imagine my joy when arriving at this restaurant to find out that they not only have violet in the title, but purple is also the definitive feature of … Continue reading Singapore Restaurant Week – Violet Herb

Singapore Restaurant Week – Candlenut

Very belated post on the last restaurant we visited during Singapore’s restaurant week last November. I just found out that Restaurant Week will be on again in March! Candlenut is a restaurant that I visited in May with Sam and her family (and loved!), so even though they had a secret menu for this event I had high expectations and I was not disappointed! Appetizer … Continue reading Singapore Restaurant Week – Candlenut

The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum

Once again I am getting behind with the blog, but about two weeks ago Ev and I went to the Chinese Gardens to check out The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum. This is a cute little museum where you can see a couple dozen species of turtles and even feed them! They also have a staggeringly immense collection of turtle toys (like, literally thousands of … Continue reading The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum

German Film Festival

This is another heads up post about an event here in Singapore, even though this event has already started. The Goethe Institut together with Cathay Cineplexes, Lufthansa and the National Museum of Sinapore are currently holding the 18th German Film Festival. The festival runs for 10 days from 6-16 November. Screenings are being held at The Cathay Cineplex (Dhoby Ghaut MRT), Cathay Cineplex Jem (Jurong … Continue reading German Film Festival

Singapore Restaurant Week – Ristorante Takada

For our second choice during Singapore Restaurant Week, we went to Ristorante Takada. I normally stay away from fusion restaurants, so I was a bit leery of this Japanese/Italian restaurant and in the end it was okay, but nothing exciting and certainly my least favourite of the three places we went to for Singapore Restaurant Week. To start off, the waitress brought us a cappucino … Continue reading Singapore Restaurant Week – Ristorante Takada

Singapore Restaurant Week – Taratata Bistrot

The first restaurant I tried for Singapore Restaurant Week was Taratata Bistrot, a French restaurant that can be found just outside of Chinatown. I really love Chinatown because of all the colourful shop houses and random stores/sights/interesting things. We tried both appetizers, the escargot and the salmon. The escargot was served in a herbed garlic butter that was really amazing. Escargot is definitely one of … Continue reading Singapore Restaurant Week – Taratata Bistrot

Singapore Restaurant Week

This is sort of a pre-post, but I wanted to let my friends in Singapore know about this event before it passes! From tomorrow Sunday, October 26th until Sunday, November 2nd there is an event going on here in Singapore where you can eat at fancy restaurants for much more reasonable prices. Prices start at S$25++ for lunch and S$35++ for dinner, although the restaurants … Continue reading Singapore Restaurant Week
