Somewhere Over the Northwest Territories
This one obviously should have been before ‘Week 1 in Daejeon’, but I can’t figure out how to change the order of posts on WordPress and I want to have them all up on here.
I am on the plane headed to South Korea!!! Hard to believe that in a few hours (approx 8), I will be landing in Seoul and heading to Daejeon. So far the flight has been entertaining, I love having my own screen to watch whatever movie I want. I have been switching between watching Date Night and checking out the map, although I try not to do that too often as it makes me feel like I am not really getting anywhere. I even listened to some random music that I found in the onboard entertainment (including Torn by Natalie Imbruglia which made me feel a little nostalgic).
Date Night was really funny, not sure why I was so unwilling to give it a chance before. Oh yeah, because the promotion made it look awful and totally skipped on the fact that it is a really sweet movie. I loved the cameos, can’t even choose who I liked more between James Franco and Mark Walhberg. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something light-hearted, funny and cute. Steve Carrell is actually really good (very little of Michael Scott in this role), and Tiny Fey was ridiculously awesome as always.
For lunch the two options were beef or tradional Korean, and I opted for the latter (I know my mom is reading this and laughing about a continental breakfast I suffered through on a flight many years ago). The flight attendant was very sweet, when she saw me looking confused and prodding my food she realised I didn’t really know how to assemble my meal and explained it to me. It was pretty tasty, but if I know anything about airplane food – it’s all up hill from here.
The food even came with a tiny tube of hot paste. I definitely cannot imagine eating the entire thing as it is pretty hot, but it definitely made the food tasty. There was also a seafood soup that was salty but surprisingly delicious. I was disappointed by the lack of ice cream, but I have my fingers crossed that that will come with dinner.
Anyways, I am off for now but maybe to be back later? Debating whether to watch another movie or try and get some sleep. It has just become morning in Korea so I feel like going to sleep will just mitigate the jetlag issue.
